Dona Petisca

The Cathedral's Snacks

It was during a complicated unemployment period that Susana saw the chance to create her own business. With the help of a course on female entrepreneurship she designed her dream and, in July 2015, Dona Petisca opened for business.
Located on the bohemian zone around Braga's Cathedral, it intends to show the best of Portugal's traditional products through its snacks and wine. Susana and her sister Cristina, who has since joined the project, went looking for Portugal's best small producers in order to introduce us to cheese, traditional sausages, and wine from the regions of Minho, Trás-os-Montes, Beira Baixa, Beira Alta and Alentejo.

All the products are available for purchase, but they can also be tasted immediately through the snacks created by Cristina. Our favorites are the "Bifana Transmontana", a pork sandwich that stands out with its goat cheese from Trás-os-Montes, accompanied by a wild mushroom and red onion chutney. The "Farinheira" (a Portuguese smoked sausage made mainly from wheat flour, pork fat and seasonings) sandwich with scrambled eggs is also delicious. And the cheese and sausages board is always a good choice for a group snack. The price of sandwiches ranges between 4,50€ and 6€. The board is 13€.

For lunch, there's a 'bifana' menu that includes potato chips and the juice of the day. In the evening/dinner the options are diverse.

To enjoy the space in the coolest fashion, we suggest the evening, when you can relax at Dona Petisca with a good traditional Portuguese snack, accompanied by a good glass of Portuguese wine.
