It never hurts to acknowledge a space that, although private, opens its doors to the public. Here you will find art, namely contemporary art. But it’s not alone: you’ll find it nestled within a beautiful landscape and architectural frame. And all this will cost you absolutely nothing.

Whether you love contemporary art, architecture or nature, this place deserves a visit. The space that houses the Mário Sequeira art gallery is a breath of fresh air in the heart of those who visit, with its green environment, lovingly cared for until the smallest detail. In many nooks and crannies it is possible to come across, for example, the circle with Richard Long’s rectangle, or unexpected artwork that can be acquired, if love at first sight or the wallet allows it.

The property’s main house, where Mário Sequeira himself still lives, reserves the bottom floor for the mixed gallery, where works of contemporary art are exhibited. It was precisely in this space that it all began.

The gardens boast some works of art created by some of the most recognized artists of today, including some Portuguese talents.

The main gallery, an architectural work conceived by the architect Carvalho Araújo, is framed into the existing landscape in unison, creating the illusion that the building is part of the land. Inside, it is always possible to find exhibitions of contemporary artists, including paintings, video, performances, installations, or whatever makes sense to the exhibiting artist.

Many famous names have already passed through this gallery, including Baltazar Torres, José Bechara, Julian Opie, Franz West, Luís Coquenão, Ruth Gómez, among many others... And will your name at least appear in the guestbook?
