Factory Business Center & Cowork

A cool space for those who work from home

Factory is a true Coolwork space! It’s cute and has all the physical solutions that a nano, mini or micro company, as well as liberal professionals require.

Tiago Gomes Sequeira, Factory’s founder, was leaving for Ireland in 2008 when the financial crisis hit the country full on. He decided to stay and the format for Factory began to emerge. Knowledgeable of this work philosophy, which already exists in the rest of Europe, as well as in Portugal (namely in Lisbon), Tiago began working on the idea, researching and visiting cowork spaces in several countries such as the UK. The idea started to take shape and, in 2010, he opened Factory – the 1st cowork space in Braga.

Factory presents different solutions for all types of professionals: wPods (workPods) are private offices intended for companies composed of 1 to 4 people; individual tables in Open Space (CoWork) designed for liberal professionals; and virtual offices (vPod) for companies or professionals who do not need a permanent office, as well as for those who work from home or from their customers’ offices. There are also conference rooms for more private moments with clients.

In total, Factory has 60 physical spaces and an unlimited number of virtual offices. These spaces become even more interesting because the business or freelancer doesn’t have to worry about the reception area, answering the telephone, the water, electricity, cleaning and condo bills, and because they have access to Factory, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This style of work is growing and proving its success, because when working in a space full of all kinds of professionals, businesses end up being enhanced by the collaborative environment that is generated – networking increases and synergies are easily created.

Beside the CoWork space, Factory also hosts several events related to business ideas and technology such as the Start Up Weekend, Change a Thon, Braga Startup Coffee, Lean Start Up Minho and Suit Off, among others.

To complement the strong incentive that Factory represents to Startups, it also provides an interesting academic area, with the organization of workshops in various areas.

An unusual and captivating space, that on Fridays opens its doors to anyone interested in trying out the coworking experience for one day, in exchange for 1kg /1lt of food that is then donated to the Food Bank Against Hunger.
